we love dogs

Yesterday afternoon, I took Daisy out to make good use of the grass when two little boys pulled up on their bikes to say hello - I would peg them at about 10 years old. One of these boys gave me a hand-made flyer, while Daisy gnawed on his shoes and otherwise wreaked havoc.

Turns out the two boys had recently decided to go into business together (50/50 partners) as Dog Walkers. And they had a sales pitch. So, I sat down on the grass to listen as one of the boys chatted me up like a born salesman. He assured me of their love for dogs, detailed their experience, and highlighted their services.

The kid was good.

And then they both started to play with Daisy energetically, as if to demonstrate their prowess. One of the boys fed her extra flyers, while the other leapt around trying (and failing) to interest Daisy in a tennis ball. A free demo, of sorts - of the joy and happiness they could offer my little dog for a mere $3.00 per walk. What a deal.

Their flyer reads as following (exactly transcribed):

*****

WE LOVE DOGS

We Are Very Good With Dogs, and We hope we will be good with your dog.

Here are 3 reasons that you should Choose us

1. We love all dogs.
2. We have experience.
3. Dogs like us too.

We walk them 30 minutes every day, but not Sunday.

WE LOVE DOGS

*****

And as they righted their bikes and made their exit, the Salesman rounded the corner, and closed the deal, calling out: "Bye, Daisy! Please call us! We'd love to spend more time with Daisy!"

And I nearly forgot that he would be charging me for "more time with Daisy" - he was that good a salesman. Either I've just been suckered by a 10-year-old, or I've found myself the best Dog Walker three dollars can buy.

I think you should give these boys a key to your apartment so they can walk Daisy in the mornings. Only a 10-year-old boy can match the energy of a new puppy.
