It's Wednesday morning, and I'm curled up on my couch with a nice cup of coffee in hand. The windows are open, because there is a promise of autumn in the air and I'm happy to invite autumn inside. If only it will stay.
You may wonder why I'm not currently at work.
And the answer is that I'm currently unemployed.
At least until tomorrow, when I start my Brand New Job. Yes, it's true. As of tomorrow, I will be working here. And I never have to go back to my last dreary job ever again. If you knew all the details, you would be very happy for that fact. Maybe now, I can even share some amusing stories about aforementioned previous employer. Like the time I was forced to play a KAZOO for a prospective client. You think I'm making that one up. But I'm not.
In any case, I negotiated three days off in between jobs, and it was my best decision yet. I've spent the last few days doing absolutely nothing, watching copious amounts of television, and drinking copious amounts of coffee. I'm decidedly ready and rested for my Brand New Job.
Our dear little Daisy the Dog is curled up next to me, and we are very happy to have her home with us. You see, we almost lost Daisy last week when she discovered ibuprofen and proceed to gorge herself on the ENTIRE BOTTLE. Needless to say, the ibuprofen wreaked havoc on her system, taking a toll on her kidneys and the lining of her stomach. She spent six days at the NC State vet hospital and finally pulled through.
It was a rough six days.
But she's home now and recovering nicely. All in all, a very expensive bottle of ibuprofen. But - what would we do without Daisy? What a very dear/very naughty/very expensive little dog.
In the middle of all this leaving jobs and deathly sick dogs, we had a houseguest. Our friend, Vincent, was visiting us from South Africa. I have a lot more to say about that, but Vincent deserves an entry or two all his own.
So, that's the news for now. Wish me luck at my first day on the job. More again, soon.
