slow down and live

It's been one of those weeks. Hectic. I've been working long hours. Taking on new responsibilities. And everything at work has been marked urgent. Everything. Urgent. Seriously?

The evidence of an unkempt life is all around me at the moment. A pile of laundry so high that Ben and I cringe every time we open up the closet. A kitchen so lacking in mere essentials that I finally gave up and ordered take-out for dinner. And a passport application on the kitchen table that must be sent this week but can't seem to find its way to the mailbox. At night, I fall into bed utterly exhausted but buzzing with residual energy at the very same time.

So, I'm trying to slow down. And that means:

Late night walks with Daisy the Dog
Choosing to work from home this morning instead of go in to the office
Late night runs with my brother
Dinner with the Nephews
Sara Tavares singing in my living room
A glass of wine at my parents' house
Turning off the instant message notification that pings me every single time I get a new work e-mail (!)
Car pooling to work with Ben
Mojitos on special at Margaret's
Finishing the final installment of Harry Potter

YES! I wish...that reminds me of Vermont Street. In fact, I have to work today :(. But that's my plan for tomorrow.
