mere days now

In a matter of days. (Days!) We'll fill several suitcases with Christmas presents and summer clothes and swimsuits.

We'll get to the airport two hours in advance, because this is the recommended check-in time for international flights. There, we'll pick up our revised paper tickets. The tickets we bought in February (in February, when Christmas time seemed impossibly Far Away). And we'll check our bags for our destination, which really is impossibly Far Away.

Then, we'll buy a stack of magazines and bottles of water and perhaps a Twix bar to split, while we wait to board our plane for Atlanta.

But Atlanta is only the first stop along the way. We'll continue on to South Africa. And the next evening, we'll walk off the plane on the tarmac in Cape Town. As if it was the most natural thing in the world. As if it was.

Ben & Anna -
Well we dropped you guys off at the airport this am. I knew that I would miss you guys but I didn't know it would start the first seconds. Stephen, who has won the best husband in the world award many a time, comforted me as I cried the whole way out of the airport. It's good to have these moments to remind us how much we love and enjoy our family (all of you).
Have fun and we'll keep the house safe and sound for ya. Steve and Dash have already been over today to rake - and guess who's front door they found was wide open? (it's not NOW and all was safe - thank you Lord) Have FUN!
Merry South African Christmas to all your Adlards!

This Blog is now very old. Are they still in Africa? Did they get back? Did their luggage arrive anywhere? DOES ANYBODY KNOW?

You're back.

I know you are.

I'll post if you post.

I think they are still in J-Burg waiting for the man at the standby desk to meet them at 7:30. Hopefully it's that and not the alternative (getting eaten by a white lion).
