We spent an unprecedented weekday evening together and at home. Ben got out of class early. I made hot-and-sour soup for the first time (Ben ate tofu - and liked it). Then, we sprawled out across the bed with the New York Times and magazines left over from my flight back from Florida. I spent most of the evening exploring iTunes and buying all the music we've had on our list but not yet bought.
Now, we're just enjoying our music purchases, which include a mismatched mix of:
The complete Darjeeling Limited soundtrack (A splurge but worth it. Beautiful and engrossing. It makes me want to see the movie again.)
Bhangra Fever - MIDIval PunditZ (We've been intrigued by Indian music lately. This is a good one.)
If Only, Hold On - KT Tunstall (Catchy. Sing-along-able.)
Please Read the Letter - Robert Plant and Alison Krauss (Lovely and heart-wrenching.)
No Ones Gonna Love You - Band of Horses (Ethereal.)
Young Folks, Amsterdam - Peter Bjorn and John (Quirky and dear. Been on the wish list for a while now.)
Just Fine, Work That - Mary J. Blige (Oh yes I did. Buy this.)
A-Punk - Vampire Weekend (Anything on this album is a safe bet.)
Pink Moon - Nick Drake (For old time's sake.)
And Ben just brought me a cup of mint tea in bed. So, I think we'll end this perfect evening on a contented, sleepy note.
