The weekend

A lot has been happening in the Adlard household. Neither of us enjoy change (does anybody?), or instability, so we are hoping to get more settled soon. Anna had a very encouraging meeting with the head honcho at UNC's Business school who offered to be her personal business coach! She has more meetings coming up with high faluting folks who are are just queuing up to have some time with my sweet wife - can you blame them? We are both hoping and praying for a good fit for Anna, though we are both a little worried about our sweet puppy, who has taken to tearing up our furniture while we are away. The current destruction inventory is :two armoire's (ripped), one couch (entire front panel stripped to the wood), one lounge chair (ripped and chewed), one quilt (chewed), and three pillows (ripped, chewed and eaten). As a result, Daisy is back in the crate where she still goes nuts but at least isn't eating anything! We decided to take her over to Al and Deb's where we were house sitting this weekend, and fortunately, her and Becket got along famously. Bodes well for Christmas day!
I had a good week at work. I just completed a rather snazy pre-loader (web application which preloads very large files, allowing uninterrupted viewing). I have joined a car pool which leaves from a co workers apartment, just a five minute walk from our place. Not only does this mean I only have to drive in to the office once a week, it also allows me to leave the Honda for Anna, whose Jeep is still stubbornly grounded in our garage, waiting for the two grand needed to fix it, sell it and buy a Scion!
In other news England beat Argentina yesterday in one of the best 'friendly's' I have ever witnessed. A goal down with 5 minutes to play, Michael Owen headed two goals past the keeper to once again beat the Argentines. It was quite possibly the most beautiful thing I had seen (other than my wife) in a long long time! "Rule Brittania" at least in football.
I reminder that my birthday is this Sat and if you haven't sent cash to my Paypal account, now is as good a time as any! Those of you who don't know me well enough to disregard this last sentence, please do so now...
I think I have rambled on enough. Till then, Ben

just read james your blog (he's sitting on the couch trying to figure out how to work the phone he was given at the conference) he suggests you rename daisy 'gnasher' or 'ripper'

;)

yes, very apt. We could also call her 'pita' - pain in the ass...we love our puppy.

Poor Daisy, she needs human company and lots and lots of LOVE, maybe her granny should come over to give her some TLC!!!
