Better late than never. We celebrated Leslie's birthday last night - only a week late (give or take). It was one of those rare moments when the E-ranch was gathered together in its entirety. Birthdays after all are an Occassion, so we make sure to celebrate them.
Because Leslie is All Girl, we watched Sixteen Candles (sigh, when I was 10, I wanted to be Molly Ringwald) and ate pink cupcakes with pink frosting. They were actually supposed to be Red Velvet cupcakes - Leslie's favorite. But I ran out of red food coloring, so they turned out to be Pink Velvet cupcakes. And I topped the cupcakes with faux pearls, because, well, if you knew Leslie, you'd know she would appreciate that sort of thing.
Leslie's actual birthday (October 28th) was a little ho-hum, but there is nothing that pink cupcakes cannot redeem. Or at least we hope so. It was good to celebrate Leslie. I have high hopes for her 28th year.
So, Happy Birthday, Lu. May all your wishes come true.
