Here I am. Returning from: a serious dry spell in blogging.
It's just that I haven't had much to say say in spite of plenty happening. But here are a few moments that come to mind when I think about the last six weeks.
One.
Spent a lovely solo weekend in Washington D.C. -- a city I still love and often miss. Reconnected with my dear friend, Dawn, over several cups of coffee in her hand-built sunroom. Met the darling Phoebe for the Very First Time. Strolled Eastern Market. Late lunched on a Saturday afternoon at Bread and Chocolate (as good as the name suggests).
Two.
Virginia and I christened Lindsey's new home for her with a champagne picnic on the hardwood floor. She moves in this weekend. So, we walked the empty echoe-y halls, opened every closet door and dreamed about every room with her. Our brave, independent girl takes on her first home.
Three.
We watched every single night of the Democratic Convention and found ourselves riveted and inspired, in spite of ourselves. Currently watching the last presidential debate. Rooting for Obama. Feeling like my vote really matters this year and will be first in line on November Fourth.
Four.
Shuttled the nephews away for a weekend at the beach to give my brother and very-pregnant-sister-in-law two days of quiet, rest and preparation. Warm enough to swim in October. Ben taught Dash how to fish. Moses spotted shells in the sand. We shared dinner with the Spencers, who are now our neighbors, even at the beach, just down the road, as they always should be. Soaked up the sweetness of putting dear sleepy children to bed. All curled up in your arms and against your neck.

Welcome back, friend. Isn't it nice that the blog is always there when you return? So considerate, the blog.
Lovely to hear about your world again...
