Hello friends. To anyone still checking this part of the world (and wondering where we've been) yes, we are still here, alive and kicking and happy, in spite of a long absence from the blog.
I won't bore you with the boring details of life since the snow day. Much the same here at the Adlards. But we are happy for the arrival of Spring and daylight savings, which has gifted us with an extra hour in the evenings for walks with Daisy the Dog and dinner on the grill. That is, when it's not raining, which it has been doing now for three days straight.
Ben is grouchy about the rain and ready to be outside for a change. Daisy agrees with him. Me, on the other hand. I see this rainy weekend as the perfect excuse to stay inside, read, watch all the shows on TIVO that I missed this week (American Idol is much better via TIVO, I must say. All the better to fast forward through commercials and bad performances) and just generally catch up from a hectic two weeks of work and life and life and work.
Right now, Ben is reading the New York Times, and I'm about to hit up the Ikea Web site to plan our new kitchen (!) which we hope will go into effect around April. Goodbye, navy blue formica from 1985. Goodbye, refrigerator that sounds like it's about to cough up a lung and die right here in my kitchen. Goodbye, cabinet shelves so short I have to lay down boxes of rice and pasta. Goodbye. We will not miss you. Not even the tiniest bit.
The kitchen renovation is sure to be an adventure. We'll keep you updated on the chaos that is about to ensue. The first step is a Kitchen Road Trip to the new Ikea in Charlotte (and a visit to granny along the way). Wish us luck!

Hey, if you want to make your own kitchen I can tell you how - it's really easy, and the finishes would be far better than Ikea quality...still, it's teh shopping and the buzz of having brand new stuff that makes it worth while I guess - but then again if you make your own you get to keep the power tools ;-)
That was me, not Ros btw
if you had any extra time in charlotte, we'd love to the chance to hug ya. we have had constant ikeaitis since it came. it rocks.
Four words: download the kitchen planner. Hours of fun before you even get there!
Very glad to see you're still with us.
